Tax Information

The Township collects both a Summer and Winter Tax. The Summer Tax is 1/2 of the school operating tax for the Lansing or Waverly School Districts and 100% of the tax for the Ingham Intermediate School District, Lansing Community College and County Operating. The Winter Tax is for the other half of the school operating tax for either Lansing or Waverly and 100% of the Township Tax and the County Tax ( Airport Authority, CATA, Spectran, Library, and 911).

Summer Taxes

Summer Taxes are due by September 14th of each year. After that date, 1% interest is charged for every month or part of a month that it remains unpaid. If not paid by February 14th, a 3% penalty is added. After March 1st, the taxes are reported to the county as delinquent and the taxes must be paid to the Ingham County Treasurer in Mason.

Winter Taxes

Winter Taxes are due on February 14th (or the next work day if the 14th falls on a weekend or holiday). After that date, a 3% penalty is added, plus 1% interest per month or part of a month that it remains unpaid. After March 1st, the taxes are reported to the county as delinquent and the taxes must be paid to the Ingham County Treasurer in Mason.

Partial Payment of Taxes

Lansing Township will accept partial payment of taxes. Contact the Treasurer’s office anytime to arrange a payment plan for your taxes during the tax collection season. For example, taxes billed on July 1st could be paid in three installments – July, August, and September; taxes billed in December could be paid in three installments – December, January, and February.

Personal Property Taxes

Personal Property Taxes are collected by the Treasurer’s office year-round. Ingham County is not involved in collecting delinquent personal property taxes. If you need to make arrangements to pay these taxes, give the Treasurer or Deputy Treasurer a call.
